Big florals, the old-fashioned kind, printed in one colour on ivory and given plenty of room to breathe. At the hem the print gathers into a scalloped border with a fine spotted fill. That border is the detail that stops this reading as an ordinary printed gown.

Two pieces:

A floor-length open gown, full sleeves, round neck, no collar
A plain maxi in a matching solid, worn underneath

The gown does the talking and the maxi underneath does the work. Together they read as one outfit. Apart, the maxi is a plain column you can put anything over, which is the part most people do not think about until they own it.

The fabric is a stretchable jersey with a fine crinkle texture. It moves when you do, holds its shape when you sit, and comes out of a suitcase ready to wear.

One size. There is no size to choose and nothing to get wrong. The cut is relaxed through the body, the fabric stretches, and the gown is open at the front, so it works across a range.
